Although I am an “apple fanboy” My first and only attempt at using an iPhone was when I bought the iPhone 4s. The iPhone was a great phone when it launched back in 2007. But gone are the days of Apple blowing away people with new augmentations and cool additions. Platforms like Android and Windows Phone 7 already offer all that Apple announces at its expensive conferences, and with iOS11, it looks like the platform is becoming less of an innovation and more of a catch-up. Apple announced iOS11 at Worldwide Developers Conference few weeks ago, and though it’s kind of a big upgrade for iPad and iPhone users, most of the announced features, along with the unannounced 200 new features are already available on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Apple is good at making present technologies more user-friendly for people like they did with iOS7, but Jelly Bean took Android a great distance, and the amazing experience of Sense 4.0 is absolutely peerless.
Here is a list of what we term as the iPhone problem. let’s go!
- Still the same boring look:
The look and feel of iOS haven’t changed much since its inception. People are getting bored of the same 4×4 grid icon layout and grey colors.
2. iPhone Hardware:
iPhone’s hardware is always 3 steps behind what is being offered by phones in the market. The iPhone is still backward in terms of technology. The Galaxy S3 has better hardware than the iPhone 4S and it will be still better than iPhone 5’s hardware any day.
3. The battery life
Straight out of the box it was struggling to get to 4 pm. Within a week I had moved over to Android. No iPhone since has hit that sweet spot for battery life. Sure, the recent phones can get you through a day, but only when new. According to a 2013 IDC survey of 50,000 phone users, battery life is the most important consideration for choosing a phone.
4. iPhones don’t support dual-sim.
Damn useful, which is why it’s almost standard for Android devices.
5. iPhones are behind on technology.
For the last 6 months, this is what your choice between Samsung’s and Apple’s top phones looked like. The iPhone is embarrassing. Just look at the iPhone x!
6. There is no freedom with apple devices especially iPhones
You cannot even customize your iPhone as you want. Apple users cannot install applications via elsewhere. The only way to install is via its own App store.
See Android, you can install the app via a third-party link without any mods to your device. Download launchers, customize your device your way.
Next, see the development side:
Apple Developers have to pay an ANNUAL fee of $99 to gain access to the iPhone SDK.
Android developers, on the other hand, only need to pay a ONE-TIME registration fee of $25. and They can also feature their apps in other marketplaces if they wish.
And last but not least, ANDROID IS OPEN SOURCE.
I have a strong belief that Apple will soon see its downfall in probably the next 2–3 product launch unless they do some real problem-solving. I’m a die-hard Apple fan but that doesn’t mean I’ll ill not speak about any flaws. I think the difference between Steve Jobs Apple and Tim’s Apple is the concept of problem-solving.
